The Pasture Post, June 2008
Welcome to The Pasture Post - the newsletter
for Sustainable Table & The Meatrix!
First, we have to thank all of you for
your amazing grilling and camping recipes, as well as for all of
you who emailed us suggestions on where to go on our mini-road
trip, “From Bonnaroo to Boulder." And an even bigger
thank you to Krista, Melinda & Dan, Jayni and Dallas for
meeting up with us on the road!

Summer Grilling Article and Recipes
Read our latest feature article, “Summer
Grilling – the Sustainable Table Way” to learn more
about the history of grilling, types of charcoal, how to cook
grassfed beef, and food safety tips.
We also have a selection of delicious camping and grilling recipes – from gourmet treats to simple ways to
cook on a campfire. You can make Heirloom Tomato Salad with Market Basil,
Cucumber, and Grilled Sourdough, courtesy
of Chef Todd Gray of Equinox Restaurant in Washington, D.C., or
something simpler like Grilled Pizza from
Laura Freden, a Sustainable Table reader (and freelancer for
us!) in Boston, Massachusetts.
Bonnaroo
"From Bonnaroo to Boulder"
(our mini road trip) started off in Manchester,
Tennessee, at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, where
Sustainable Table hosted “Rock the Grill - unplugged”
with Farm Aid’s HOMEGROWN campaign. Find out what we did,
who we met, the music we listened to, as well as the great food
we ate! You can also read about our drive from Bonnaroo to LOHAS
and the wonderful people we met along the way. Thanks again to
all of you for sending in your suggestions – we had the
most votes for visiting Columbia, Missouri – which we did
– and we loved! We also visited a Whole Foods in St.
Louis and toured a heritage turkey farm
in Colorado.
LOHAS
LOHAS stands for Lifestyles of Health and
Sustainability. It’s a segment of the market green
businesses are trying to reach. Sustainable Table attended the
conference to see what was happening with sustainability in the
for-profit world, and along the way we met many wonderful people
and learned many interesting things. Find out what we did
while in Boulder, Colorado!
